To create this playdough funky fish, we used 4 playdough colors. We wanted our fish to be different shades of blue, but you can pick any color you desire, you can even make it rainbow. Since we wanted more shades of blue than the original 4, we made our own playdough colors by mixing together the colors we had.
Mixing playdough is as easy as mixing paint. We took white and blue playdough and mushed it together until it turned to the desired color. You can leave it swirly, to make your fish even more unique and funky. We created 2 more shades of blue and began creating the fish.
Materials:
Playdough (if you don’t have playdough at home, you can make it yourself)
Plastic knife
Toothpick
Instructions:
1. Body.
You can use your own imagination when creating the fish body shape or look up on the internet any fish type and start working. Create a round ball by rolling playdough in your palms. Then flatten the body to make it look more like the body of the fish.
2. Tail.
We created a tail right from the body part, just sculpted with our fingers until the desire shape. You can also make it from a separate piece of playdough and then attach to the body.
3. Fins.
We made 3 the same way we made a tail. You can also make them separate it’s easier and then attach to the fish.
4. Mouth.
To make a mouth we used plastic knife to make a slit and pull apart the lips of the fish. Shape it with your fingers to create the desired look.
5. The eye.
Roll a small ball from the white playdough and attach to the face of the fish. We used two shades of blue to create the pupil of the eye.
6. Decorations.
To decorate the fish we used all sorts of different color and size balls. We flatten some of them and roll the others. We used toothpick to make holes and other designs.
